Last Friday, February 11, Chapter2 had our Pre-Valentines show at the New Broadway Seafood Restaurant in Elmhurst NY, and it dawned on us just how much we have missed the NY crowd – the ones who have followed and supported us ever since our Perlas Ng Silangan days more than 4 years ago.
Back then, our month would not be complete without a scheduled gig at our favorite hangout in Queens (Roosevelt, NY to be exact). With the intoxicating scent of sizzling sisig and crispy pata in the air, Chapter2 would perform to packed crowds at Perlas Ng Silangan, enjoying the warmth and hospitality of her regular clientele, which was very much a reflection of the warmth and hospitality that was always exuded by restaurant owner Mr. Nel Castelvi. It was the place where we felt right at home, and consequently we were able to hone our craft doing stuff that we loved to do.
More significantly though, Perlas was the place where we were destined to meet two important members of our C2 family – the very lovely and enchanting Grace Hernandez-Tena, and the amazing Sheldon Magbanua, whose talents were only matched by their genuine humility and personable character.
Last Friday we were sort of brought back in time to those days, with familiar faces filing into this new venue in Elmhurst. And we truly felt the love, like long lost friends coming together to celebrate good times from days gone by. All of the sudden, the New Broadway Seafood Restaurant too, felt very much like home.
And therein lies the power of genuine connections and relationships that we’ve been given the opportunity to experience and build through the years – in the end these are the things that matter throughout our musical journey together.
The congruence between old and new somehow merged into one magical evening, where it was all about the music, and celebrating life and love amongst friends.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all our friends who shared that magical evening with us last Friday, including Nel Castelvi, Ron Reganit, Marisse Panlilio of MPE, Ria Serrano of Air Entertainment, Dee Jagonase of D’Boss Entertainement, Rick Respicio of Bad Boy Entertainment, Luv 2 Laff star Apple V., romantic crooner Allen Pacla, and young songstress Trisch.
